Layering is the keyword when it comes to putting together an outfit for a light winter; for example in a city like Mumbai. My friends from other cities/countries laugh (I used to too), when I say “winter is coming”; but the fact is, once you survive a 45 degree scorching summer, even a 20 degree pleasant day seems a little more than just nippy.
As I was cleaning my closet and prepping for the glorious winter/festive season, I thought it would be a good idea to blog about a few styling tips so that layering like a pro doesn’t seem like a task anymore. Layering is my go-to regardless of what the weather might be like, as it gives me space to be creative along with amping up the style quotient!
For perfecting the layering game, you need to have your basics in place and a good mix of textures and trust me it isn’t rocket science! Once you get a hang of it, you’ll be playing this game all year around.
Long, Baggy Cardigans/Capes are my favourite items for layering. They give your outfit an edge and take away boredom from an otherwise drab outfit.
Waist-coats are a fun addition, when layering. Try an embellished or sequined waist-coat for a chic twist to your ensemble.
Bomber Jackets will bring out the sporty chic in you. Great way to channel athleisure this season!
Denim Jackets/Shirts are not going anywhere for a long time to come. Do not shy away from bringing out your vintage chambray shirts or the jackets, they promise to make absolutely any outfit pop!
Scarves! They will be your best friend throughout the season.
Over the knee socks, because we do not restrict layering to the top half!
